Listen to the latest peek into Western Australian band Pretty Uglys’ debut album.
Australian based four piece Pretty Uglys have come out with their latest single; Supernova. And it’s exactly the kind of surreal shoegaze track we love to see.
The song is a surfy, indie rock amalgamation of distorted guitar tones and echoed vocals. The chorus packs a wonderful amount of drive, and it’s really where this song exceeds. The vocal melodies blend seamlessly into the guitar in a sublime mix of fuzzy effects. The lyric “Sometimes I wonder if it’s just all a dream, and we’ll wake up with all our alien friends.” really drives home the nostalgic feel of the entire song.
Supernova is the second single Pretty Uglys have released ahead of their upcoming debut album, following Stay True, released in March of this year. It’s an equally great track and makes me excited about what we’re yet to see from this band.
